Research Research
New Delhi
Located in New Delhi’s Greater Kailash II, Research Research stands at the area’s expanse—breathing with boutique stores, and high-end apartments. An extension of Kartik Research, the contemporary menswear label is renowned for its jackets, shirts, and intricately embroidered jeans handcrafted by Indian artisans and has established a presence on international platforms like SSense, Saks, and Mr. Porter. Now, it takes shape in the country’s capital, embodying its vision in a dedicated physical space. Founded by Kartik Kumra, the interior design of the store’s expansive 1,400 sq. ft. space, places a strong emphasis on engaging with the younger generation. More than an establishment for transactions or purchases, Research Research takes on the form of a ‘concept laboratory,’ an experimental space that is meant to serve as a premise for the brand’s vision for future global expansion It strikes a balance—avoiding an overtly craft-focused approach while steering clear of excessive polish. The store features flooring made of Jaisalmer yellow stone, the unique quality of which creates a warm, luminous effect, lending the entire store an aesthetic reminiscent of sepia-toned imagery. The wooden fixtures with their natural patterns and earthy tones add visual interest to the store’s environment that’s easy on the eyes.
The store brims with unexpected details that demand a closer look; from the amusing tiger chairs commanding attention at the centre—boldly punctuating the otherwise minimalist design— to the vintage kantha fabrics exuding a rustic and storied charm, handpicked during Kartik’s travels. The framed black-and-white photographs line the walls, adding yet another layer of intrigue. These seemingly disparate elements come together with deliberate precision, inviting visitors to linger, engage, and explore. They infuse the space with a distinctive character, bringing together both cultural richness with the founder’s deeply personal narrative. With stores like Research Research, the era of retail as a pure transaction is giving way to a dynamic experience where physical spaces are focused on fostering meaningful, memorable, and dynamic relationships between consumers and brands.
