Conceptualized in a vintage 1940s bungalow, Jaipur Modern pays homage to the revered expertise of Indian karigars and their crafts. The bungalow is located at the heart of Jaipur and was reframed into a concept store by Architect Rooshad Shroff without withdrawing from its original layout and characteristics. The 2500 sq. ft. space ushers a fully immersive experience through its elaborate verandahs and garden that accommodates artist exhibitions and installations –gradually drawing people inside its stark white walls that shelf a gamut of apparel, art, and dining items. The visual aesthetics of Jaipur Modern pack a myriad of traditional crafts—dabbling as both a part of the display and as a purchasable range. It encourages the individual to experience the product from inception to production and ultimately leave with an awareness of the craft’s authenticity, integrity, and social consciousness.
