La Boa
Goa
In Goa’s Assagao, lined with boutiques that boast design, art, clothing and jewellery, resides La Boa Goa, a multi-designer space for fashion, lifestyle and accessories. An extension of the already well-known store Rangeela, housed in its previous location, La Boa carries forward the same philosophy with a distinct personality. Set within a restored Portuguese-style villa that follows the architectural language for which Goan residences are famed, the space feels less like a store and more like a curated home. Potted plants and lush greenery lead visitors up a flight of stairs to a façade washed in hints of pink, evoking an almost carnival-inspired mood that feels vibrant and inviting, with verandah-like thresholds and terracotta accents. Inside, the space opens up to a thoughtfully edited mix of some of the country’s most exciting names, including Paloma, The Jodi Life, Guapa, Shop Verb, Artchives and more. What becomes evident on lingering is the material honesty that anchors the space. Handcrafted stone and wood tables, woven baskets, ceramics, brass, cane and textiles are arranged in a way that echoes Indian craft traditions without slipping into a predictable display language. Instead of rigid shelving,

La Boa favours clusters and islands, encouraging browsing that feels tactile and domestic, closer to moving through a well-travelled home than a conventional retail floor. Rather than revealing itself all at once, La Boa invites visitors to explore it in layers, much like a home, a gallery or even a garden. Instead of moving directly from the entrance to checkout, visitors are guided organically by sightlines rather than signage. Visual pauses emerge naturally, with arches framing what lies ahead, mirrors reflecting fragments of spaces already passed, and doorways offering partial glimpses rather than the full picture at once. At a time when the rise of concept stores may often feel performative, La Boa reframes retail as a lived environment. Collapsing the distance between domestic space, gallery and store, it proposes a more intimate, intuitive way of engaging with contemporary Indian design.
