Tucked away in one of Lower Parel’s repurposed mills, Nilaya Anthology is a quiet revelation—bringing together the finest in Indian and international design under one roof, nestled among Mumbai’s well-known restaurants and corporate hubs. Marked by its emerald green façade, the entrance opens into a double-height, glass-roofed orangery: a sunlit, tropical haven lush with rare flora and handcrafted pottery. This space offers a gentle transition from the city’s pace into a slower, more sensory rhythm—leading into the central gallery. Conceptualized in 2025 by Pavitra Rajaram, Creative Director at Asian Paints, Nilaya Anthology presents an eclectic yet cohesive collection of home décor and collectible design. Spanning over 100,000 square feet and designed by Mumbai-based architect Rooshad Shroff, the space unfolds across three zones—the ‘Shop House,’ ‘Showroom,’ and ‘Connector’—all linked by a sweeping, sculptural ramp that defines the areas without disrupting their flow. The ramp, echoing a meandering path, also serves as a curated gallery for emerging artists selected by the Nilaya team. Though it retains its industrial framework, the space is softened through thoughtful, layered interventions—earth-toned walls punctuated across the interiors, curated furnishings, wooden accents, and soft lighting—creating a delicate balance between restraint and richness. The layout shifts between expansive open areas and more intimate, enclosed zones. Each room stands apart—individually constructed, distinct in shape, and curated with its own visual language. From rare hand-stitched textiles at the Textile Archive that add layers of colour and texture, to hand-knotted rugs at The Carpet Atelier, and antique treasures sourced through celebrated auctions in the dimly lit Cellar—each corner invites an encounter with craftsmanship, both from India and beyond. Expect collectible pieces from names such as Atelier Ashiesh Shah, Cox London, and Milan-based gallery Nilufar—known for its premiere collaboration with designer Vikram Goyal—alongside established and experimental brands like Cassina, Bisazza, Cerasa, Dedar, Miele, Lema, and more. A project of this scale is unprecedented in this sector. With growing demand from both consumers and the design community for tactile, curated experiences, Nilaya rises to meet it—offering a bold vision that reimagines what physical retail can be. As the appetite for experiential design deepens, Nilaya Anthology sets a compelling benchmark for the future of design-led spaces.
