Located inside the nearly 300-year-old City Palace in Jaipur is a newly opened concept store that serves a blend of heritage, craft and creativity. The Palace Atelier - a brainchild of Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur and French designer Claire Deroo - is a curated haven for discovering bespoke creations that pay homage to Rajasthan’s rich cultural tapestry. The foyer is painted in a bright yellow wall, candy stripes on the ceiling and a chequered staircase leading inside to the riot of colours in the store. Divided into distinct rooms, each section of the Palace Atelier houses handpicked pieces across fashion, jewellery, home decor, art and literature. In iconic Jaipur fashion, each room is painted in a different hue, playing a symphony of colours, textures and designs that evoke a sense of regal splendour. The store’s interior is a careful mix of modernity and timeless crafts, deftly showcased through statement accessories displayed on ornately carved wooden furniture. A piece that stands out the most is a pink and black chessboard with chess pieces adorned in contrasting velvet fabric with gota patti embroidery - handcrafted by women of the PDKF community. Along with its in-house label where the products are designed in the palace studio and made by skilled local craftsmen, the store will also stock pieces from renowned Indian designers such as Anita Dongre, Rahul Mishra, Bhavya Ramesh and more. Expertly curated where each piece is picked keeping its global audience in mind, The Palace Atelier embodies the essence of India itself.
