In the past, most of us would have probably browsed through the collections of Indian designers if we had a wedding or a special occasion around the corner. Lately, however, this is no longer the case because the offerings of the country’s labels extend far beyond ornate lehengas and sweeping cocktail gowns. You can now find everything from a pair of sturdy blue jeans to a cool, deconstructed button down made by a homegrown brand, and the latest addition to this ever-evolving list is accessories.
Designers, both emerging and established, seem to have identified a lack of high quality made in India add-ons, and many of them seem to be working hard towards filling this void. Tarun Tahiliani now stocks belts that look just as good with tailored trousers as they do with a sari, Dhruv Kapoor makes micro bags that pack a major punch, and Rina Singh of Eka has intricately embroidered floral scarves that can lift even the most pared-back basics. Ahead, we’ve rounded up our favourite accessories from these and other labels closer to home. Scroll and shop.
