Rosani

AA luxury menswear label, Rosani mirrors the wider momentum of Indian designers who are dismantling binary ideas of dressing. Branching out from the linear language of sartorial codes, labels like Rosani are also proving that luxury can be expressive, and that menswear need not be confined to men alone but can resonate with a broader audience. In Rosani’s design language, it is not unusual to find designs that foreground bold embellishments, flowing drapes, and angular cuts—details that linger well beyond a first glance.

Founded in 2024 by Rohitash and Rashi Notani, Rosani creates garments that rest lightly on the body and are yet rich with details. A designer by profession, Rohitash’s experience in Milan and Berlin shaped his practice, yet his Indian identity has remained central to his design approach. The label reflects this balance, lending it a distinctly global sensibility. It first entered the spotlight as Lakmē Fashion Week X FDCI Gennext winners in 2024 with their debut collection ‘Anima Animus’. From its early outings, including collections like DYMENSION, which spotlighted surface techniques through clean, product-driven silhouettes, the label has steadily evolved to accommodate an expansive design language. More recent collections today lean into bolder proportions and expressive styling.

This evolution is evident in the label’s current ranges, where everyday staples are reimagined with a sharper edge. Fabrics like cotton and lightweight denim form the base, but the focus is on pushing silhouettes and textures into fresh territory. Boxed sleeveless cuts, sheer shirts, and sculptural jackets hint at a playful approach to proportion. Techniques like pleating and laser cutting lend unexpected dimension, while metallic accents and bold appliqués bring in a sense of drama. The result is clothing that feels less like basics and more like statements. For those drawn to classic tailoring, the collection also explores pared-back silhouettes with sharp collars, clean lines, and pleated forms that carry a sense of formality while still moving with fluid ease.

Perhaps most telling is how many emerging designers are arriving with a design language thats already carries a certain finesse. Take, for instance, Rosani’s experimental use of techniques such as all-over pleating, which may appear highly avant-garde in concept, yet when worn, it feels well-put-together. It's only palpably telling that the rise of such labels is signalling that India’s emerging talents are no longer just finding their voice, but actively shaping a contemporary fashion language, and most importantly, ones that are making space for the pluralistic nature of our identities.
