Aashti Miller
The multi-disciplinary artist who is navigating creativity through diverse mediums of communication
Mumbai-based architect and illustrator Aashti Miller’s artistic prowess adopts a maximalist approach. Combining the precision of her architectural expertise with a passion for illustration and graphic design, the artist has forged a signature style, earning her a spot on Forbes India's 30 under 30 list for Design, and Forbes Asia 30 under 30 list for the Arts. Miller also runs an illustration and graphic design studio of her own, known as MillerInk. In Aashti’s works, there is a careful amalgamation of vibrant hues that invite a sense of fun, balancing the polarities of constructed and painted, digital and analogue, and two-dimensional and three-dimensional forms. Simultaneously, their intricate details – each reflecting a myriad of thoughts and ideas from her mind – invite observers to discover something new with each revisit. This ‘organised chaos’ has earned Miller a diverse client roster – including the likes of Michael Kors and Uniqlo beyond her full-time role as an architect and associate for Pickard Chilton in New Haven. The playful essence evident in Aashti’s works has also expanded to editorial pages and books, such as Elle India. Another notable characteristic of Aashti's works is their foundation rooted in thorough observation and knowledge. By drawing inspiration from established concepts in science and nature, her designs embody a forward-thinking approach. A note-worthy example is her design for the Unity Medal during the 2020 Airtel Indian marathons, which integrated the symbolism of the Möbius strip to convey the profound concepts of unity and non-duality.
