Parth Kothekar
The immaculate artist who uses intricate cuts and folds to morph blank pages into magnificent designs
Papercut artist Parth Kothekar needs only a blank sheet of paper and a paper-cutting knife to baffle and capture everyone’s attention. On these papers, ornate Havelis, personalized portraits, floral vines, mesmerizing paisley designs, and optical illusions come alive as he carves out intricate cuts and manipulates delicate folds. Silhouettes and sketching had always intrigued the Ahmedabad-based artist, and while the prowess of his artwork may seem like something he was formally trained in, it was only stumbled upon as an experiment - and Parth never looked back. In 2013, he held his first solo exhibition in Ahmedabad, displaying 84 of his artworks. Since then, the distinct and captivating appeal of his artworks has traveled to several places, from comic-con events in Hyderabad, Bangalore, etc. to museums and art galleries in Dubai and New Zealand. In 2016, Parth opened his very first brand, Oh Papercuts, where you can find an exquisite collection of papercut designs, all handmade by the artist himself. With incredible patience, Parth works on these meticulous cuts and works and explores different themes like animation, 3D lamps, patterns, etc. And with every challenge that comes his way, Parth's motivation is already galvanized to take on another one.
