Sanjana Chatlani
The multi-disciplinary artist who is navigating creativity through diverse mediums of communication
Sanjana Chatlani is a Mumbai-based Calligrapher, lettering artist, and founder of Bombay Lettering Company whose handwritten oeuvre started as a creative outlet and transformed into commissioned works for luxury empires including Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Jo Malone, Salvatore Ferragamo, to name a few. Despite an existing lucrative and dynamic position at Moët and Hennessey, along with reservations about the sustainability of a career as a calligrapher, Chatlani has managed to reignite the respect for handmade artistry and establish a niche of her own. With a strong belief that the thousand-year-old art form holds the power to evoke emotions and infuse a personal touch in the digital world, Chatlani strives to bring back the love, joy, and appreciation for handmade and hand-rendered scripts. Her boutique, now a well-known name amongst high-profile designers and celebrities, offers a wide range of services- from personalized letterings and engravings to corporate packaging, including on-site calligraphy at the venue for an immersive experience. In a defining moment for the artist, Chatlani is also the winner of the 'Favourite Stationer' title at the RSVP Global Awards 2023 held in Madrid, triumphing over 12 talented individuals worldwide. Fueled by her passion, she now conducts workshops in various cities, and beyond its conventional uses, employs calligraphy as a therapeutic tool, working with Autistic children.
